A Promise is a Promise… Only if it’s Kept from Chicklit Power

2 Peter 1:3-4

His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

Thanks for joining me for a little coffee break and the conclusion to our September WOW. Grab your coffee and let’s go wrap all these promises up!

Another beautiful scripture in His Word (promises) is in 2nd Corinthians 1:20:

For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us.” Remember, “amen” means so be it!

Now let’s conclude with our actual WOW to use as weapons of warfare. I think it’s important that we try and take it a bite at a time and sort of chew on it so all of its nutritional value will root in our hearts and sprout up and out in our lives. Here we go:

It is His divine power that has given _______ (put your name in there) all things that pertain to life and godliness. In other words, every physical need and all things needed to be Christ-like have been purchased and paid for (there’s the covenant) and therefore promised! This refers to the present physical life here on earth and the ongoing spiritual life.

We understand this only through coming to an experiential knowledge of Him. Remember, to “know” something or someone means to experience it/them with your inner being, aka, your heart and mind. Because we experience Him, He calls you and me to a higher standard that leads to eternal life with Him. But it is His power that will carry us through to that eternal glory, as the end, by our permission, which comes out in our Christ-like behavior, as the means. In other words, He’s promised we are not alone in the journey.

His power continues to hold our hand and lead us to walk in and experience His great and precious promises. These promises in and of themselves lead us to the divine nature that helps us to rise above the corruption of this world. It’s not that we are better than anyone, but we rise above the corruption and lust that is overtaking all those who are not in Christ Jesus. We rise above the corruption in our wisdom, understanding and thereafter our actions.

Not only are His promises to lift us up and help us, offer us a hope and a future, but He is the promise! So if we cling to the ultimate promise of Him, not only do we inherit all of the promises but we are able to keep the ones we make!

I pray that I would be slow to promise and quick to keep that which I promise.

Showered in His promises,
