A Shopping Spree Awaits You and Me! From Coffee Hour @ Chicklit Power

Welcome to Coffee Hour @ Chicklit Power and thanks for coming by. We are talking about something that most girls like to talk about, clothes and shopping. If this is your first time joining us, you may want to check out yesterday’s Coffee Hour because this is part two to our November WOW (Words of Wisdom/Weapons of Warfare). Grab your coffee and come on in. 🙂

Before I continue from where I left off, I just want to share that as the end of each month comes closer and the beginning of a new one is around the corner, I begin asking Him to reveal where do I need to improve; what scripture do I need planted in my heart so my life will bring Him more glory. He didn’t give me the scripture until just a couple of days ago, after He reminded me of how impatient I have been lately and the reality of the need for a new wardrobe hits the depths of my soul. As replays of recent attitudes that were clothed in the wrong garb surface, conviction has caused me to see the beauty and necessity of shopping in the Lord’s closet. Tears fill my eyes even as I’m writing this because I realize that I am in desperate need of a wardrobe change. Oh, how thankful I am that His mercies are new every minute, not just every morning! 🙂

So as I was saying, these clothes I need to shop for really have to stand the test of time. Where in the world will I find such a place that has the type of clothes I need to go into the places that He is sending me?

Well, I’m thankful that I’ve figured out that the only place that I can find these clothes is in His closet! Follow me there to our November WOW. It is in Colossians 3:12-15 which says: Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, long-suffering, bearing with one another and forgiving one another; if anyone has a complaint against another, even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do. But above all these things, put on love, which is the bond of perfection, and let the peace of God rule in your heart, to which also you were called in one body, and be thankful.

Now that’s an amazing wardrobe. Let’s break it down. “As the elect of God” means we are chosen, and because we are chosen, that is why we are called to be holy. And then do you see what comes after that? He calls us His beloved. How sweet is that?! 🙂 Then He goes on to give us our shopping list: tender mercies is the first layer; I’ll take one of those in every color, please! 🙂 Then He says to get clothes of kindness, I think I’ll take those in every size, as well. And humility, whew, I’m thinking that should be in between every layer, along with a belt of meekness in every color to prevent me from blurting words out of hurt or frustration. Oh, and then I’m thinking I need those boots of long-suffering, again, in every color, because they will help me stay on the path of forgiveness; after all, if I’m forgiving much, then I am forgiven much too! Oh and don’t you just have to have a coat of love in every color? I’ll take a long one and a short one, too. And as long as I’m putting these clothes on, peace will automatically become part of the wardrobe and so will thankfulness!

Wow, what perfect timing for a new wardrobe, especially right before another Destination? Joyful! ™ event! 🙂 Oh, sometimes, even being so focused in the name of “ministry,” because there are so many things beckoning for my attention, I have put on clothes of impatience and intolerance. The deeper I go into the trenches of ministry, the more I realize I need a new wardrobe! I need to exchange these clothes of impatience, frustration, selfishness, these accessories of self-righteousness and intolerance for these other clothes. Oh, how blessed I am to know that as long as we try to put these clothes on, He in turn clothes us in righteousness. 🙂

What about you? Is it time for a shopping spree? He’s already bought it and paid for it!

In His new clothes,
