Cabo Highlights-From Coffee Hour @ Chicklit Power

Welcome to Coffee Hour @ Chicklit Power and thanks for coming by. I really enjoy these times of sharing with you and giving you a close-up picture of some of my deepest thoughts, questions and dreams. Grab your coffee and come on in for some Cabo highlights.

We’ve actually been here for five days and I haven’t done any writing but I’m itching to, so I thought I’d give you some highlights. Let me start at the beginning.

So we have a timeshare in Cabo, but we don’t come every year. In fact, the last time we were here in Cabo was two years ago, and it was so crowded we didn’t know when or if we’d return. By the time we got around to checking out banking our week for somewhere else, it was too late so we moved forward with vacation plans. A week before we came, I knew the trip was going to be different and if it was crowded, it would actually be a benefit.

A week before leaving, I had to reserve our shuttle to pick us up from Los Cabos Airport, and I felt a nudging to ask if they would host a book signing in their beautiful lobby. Now, some people who know me think that’s not a big deal for me, but I have to tell you, the more whole I become, the more I stick to my blueprint, if you will, the more of a big deal this kind of thing is. It’s really not easy for me. In fact, I’ve cried many tears of frustration, wishing I didn’t have to self-promote, but I have also come to learn, that before people will listen to what you have to say, or read what you write, they have to like who’s saying it or who’s writing it, or have some sort of connection. I know in my heart it’s not about me, but more about the ones He’s already picked to read what He’s given me to write and it comes from the very heart of my life.

Anyway, back to reserving a shuttle: So in my email, after I requested the shuttle, I added a sort of “by the way” ending by letting them know I was a newly published author and I would love to have a book signing in the beautiful lobby of Playa Grande.“ I inserted my link, encouraging the concierge to check it out. As I pushed the send button, I muttered to myself about the unlikelihood of that happening and went about my list of to-dos for the day.

Three hours later, I felt a check in my spirit to check my email. I was looking for an answer about something else from someone else and saw a return email from Playa Grande. I opened it up, fully expecting to see my reservation number for the shuttle. Instead I read the following words: “Ms. Lepins, we would be delighted to host your book in our lobby. I’ll be in touch with my manager so he can help me set this up and get back to you”!

I felt like a giddy little girl mesmerized by the reality of limitless possibilities and all because I invited Him into the situation and moved forward after His ever-so-gentle nudge, though I must confess, I really didn’t think it was going to happen.                            By the time we got to Cabo, I was definitely one tired girl, despite having slept the entire flight! The week leading up to our trip was spent preparing for our workshop, Resolutions and Relationships — which was an amazing event, even though the weather stole several of our guests — packing for our trip as well as organizing the first two book signings which are the week I come home from Cabo. I was inundated with details and never, ever could have gotten through the week without Him and His gift of an amazing team and hard-working assistant.

I am humbled to remove myself from the equation and realize that I am His vessel about to be sent on a treasure hunt for hearts that will be encouraged by “Coffee Hour with Chicklit Power, A Cup of Encouragement for the Day.”

Come back so I can share some of our Cabo highlights with you, including what happened at the book signing at the beautiful Playa Grande Resort in Cabo San Lucas.
