Coffee Hour @ Chicklit Power “A Psalm a Day…”

Welcome to Coffee Hour @ Chicklit Power and welcome back to the “A Psalm a Day…” series. I’m so glad you’re here. If this is your first time, let me just explain what we’re doing in this series. We go to the Psalm that corresponds with the day of the month, so today we’ll be reading the 26th Psalm. After reading and meditating on if for a bit, then you just rewrite it according to your own circumstances. For those of you who say you’re not a writer, you don’t have to be to speak from your heart. These become like letters and/or prayers to Daddy, and it’s so powerfully revealing and refreshing all at the same time. So come on in and let’s get started with today’s.

Psalm 26 is a Psalm of David, and after taking a moral inventory, if you will, he pleads to God for his innocence and asks for redemption. In other words, David is asking God to right a wrong. There’s a whole lot of history in these Psalms, but for now let’s just put our own history in there and watch the Scripture come alive.

He writes: “(1) Vindicate me, O Lord, for I have walked in my integrity. I have also trusted in the Lord; I shall not slip. (2) Examine me, O Lord, and prove me; try my mind and my heart. (3) For your loving kindness is before my eyes, and I have walked in Your truth. (4) I have not sat with idolatrous mortals, nor will I go in with hypocrites. (5) I have hated the assembly of evildoers, and will not sit with the wicked. (6) I will wash my hands in innocence; so I will go about Your alter, O Lord, (7) that I may proclaim with the voice of thanksgiving, and tell of all Your wondrous works. (8) Lord, I have loved the habitation of Your house, and the place where Your glory dwells. (9) Do not gather my soul with sinners, nor my life with bloodthirsty men, (10) in whose hands is a sinister scheme, and whose right hand is full of bribes. (11) But as for me, I will walk in my integrity; redeem me and be merciful to me. (12) My foot stands in an even place; in the congregations I will bless the Lord.”

Okay. Here goes. (1) Father, when you look upon me, may you always see me walking in integrity, trusting in You, believing that Your plans are to lift me up, not to cause me to slip and fall. (2) When you seek me in my innermost being, my mind and my heart, may I be proven by you to have clean hands. (3) Everywhere I turn, I can recognize the gift of your love and your kindness, of your faithfulness and your provision. Your loving kindness keeps me seeking truth (4) and reveals to me those whose hearts are not completely yours, whose hearts are divided. (5) I despise the gathering of those who plot to do evil and will pray for them but I will not dwell with them (6) that I may not be influenced by them but remain free to worship you with my life.

(7) Oh, that my life would proclaim thanksgiving; that it would resound of all your redeeming power, for it is my life which speaks louder than any words I could say or write. (8) Father, I love to meet with you in the quiet of the morning in our special place, for anywhere that Your presence can be felt and experienced by me, there also is your glory. (9) Father, don’t let my heart stray from you. Thank you for your divine discrimination that separates me from those who do not love you (10) and those who sin in their schemes. They pull many into their webs with one hand and push you away with the other. (11) Yes, Daddy, when I am lost, weak and/or tired, help me to always walk with integrity, and if I run ahead, or when I fall, pick me up and dust me off with your mercy that redeems (12) and plant my feet to forever follow the path you set before me.

Now it’s your turn. Come on, make it yours….

Love and laughter,

Evinda

After many days on the road and a scarsity of wireless campgrounds, and finally a complete melt down of a laptop, I have finally gotten to catch up on the blogs — and also the comments. You are reaching out and touching people that we may never meet. It’s such a blessing to have you in my life. Keep up the good work. Hugs.

All I can say is… please write more. OMG, it seems as though I watched a video instead of reading an article…it’s so clear. You totally know what you’re writing about. My thought was, why waste your knowledge on blog posting when you could be publishing books? Think about it. You’re very good at what you do. WORD!
