Coffee Hour @ Chicklit Power – All Things…

Welcome to Coffee Hour @ Chicklit Power and thank you for finishing off the week with me. Grab your coffee and come on in. I have some good news to share with you.

So every month I try and memorize a new verse for the month. I don’t look at it every day, but several times a month. And then on the first of the following month, I review my previous verses and then write my new one for the month. When I started June, I smiled when I read the verse I was to memorize. It was short and sweet, that is until two weeks into the month. The reason I say that is because of the verse. See, June’s verse is found in Romans 12, verse 2, and I always like to put my name in there where applicable, because after all, these are His love letters to us, filled with promises and instructions. So the verse says: Evinda, “do not be overcome by evil (wrong doing) but overcome evil with good.” The last couple of weeks in June were hard for a lot of us, and yet, re-reading that scripture, I am encouraged and reminded that two wrongs don’t make a right. Oh, how His word comes alive!

So the verse for July, I have to tell you, is my life verse. I want this to be my legacy because I believe it and am living proof of it. I am excited to see how it plays out this month in my life as well as in yours. See, I’m hearing of all kinds of terrible things happening to a lot of you, things that are unexplainable, things that defy good, and yet, HIS word has NEVER failed, and I know it’s not about to start now because of anything you and I are going through. Romans 8:28 “And we know” – the word know in Hebrew translates to yada, which means to know by experience – “that God causes all things” – ALL, not some, but ALL – “to work together for good” – for the greater good, not for bad – “to those who love God” – there’s the catch – “to those who are called according to His purpose.”

Now let’s take that apart just a bit further. See, I do know that He works all my stuff that looks bad, painful and tragic out for something good. Yes, sometimes the colors that He allows to come into the painting of our lives is dark with pain and sorrow, but then, because of WHO He is, He is able to splash bright colors of hope, and weave in some amazing and unimaginable things from the one thing that caused us much pain and/or sorrow. It’s His sovereignty. It’s hard to understand, let alone explain. It just is. All I know is there’s not one detail of my life that He’s forgotten. There’s not one bad choice I’ve made that He hasn’t brought something good out of it. There has not been one time that I’ve been hurt by someone else that He hasn’t brought something beautiful to the surface.

Oh how He loves us and never lets go of us, even when we feel like we are dangling over a mountain by a thread. He will NEVER let go. All He asks is that you love Him back. He doesn’t require perfection, just devotion.

Have an awesome weekend, and a memorable 4th of July. Thank Him for the freedom we share!

I love that verse and know it, and believe in my heart. July will be a great month. Have a great and blessed 4th. What a great day to remind us that our forefathers believed in that verse too, and were not afraid to stand up for what they believed and fought to become One Nation Under God, a Judea-Christian nation, so we can all have freedom today!
