Coffee Hour @ Chicklit Power- Journal Entry 5-17-10

Welcome to Coffee Hour @ Chicklit Power, and thank you for coming back. I was going to pick up with our “Balance? What’s that?” series, but I need to ask a couple of people if I can use their stories in my blog before I post them. I hope you’ve had a great weekend and are refreshed and ready for the week ahead. My weekend was amazing, thanks for asking! Can I just take a couple of minutes to share why? Grab your favorite drink and let’s go spend a few minutes together.

So my husband left on Friday morning, way before the sun rose, to go with a few other men on a Hands of Mercy mission where they went into Ensenada, Mexico and built two loft homes for two families. Well, while he was gone, I had determined in my mind that I would lock myself up and begin the mapping process for book two, which is exactly what I did. I didn’t come out until a half hour before lunch, and by then, I had half of book 2 mapped out and I had started looking over the final corrections I just received from the editor for pages 105 to 225 for the first book (The Men In & Out of Her Life). We are now more than halfway done with the final editing process, so hopefully we’re going to New York real soon! I’ll keep you posted.

After lunch, I came back and went back into my writing room and didn’t come out until 5:00! I was so invigorated and excited. Book 2, “Seen and Not Heard,” is well under way! I’ll give you a sneak peek on Friday!

So then I took my dogs for a walk up to Starbucks, treated myself to one of those new make it the way you like it fraps and came home and started laundry. Then I met a close friend and her daughter for dinner. Her daughter’s one of those techie people and she helped me get a new ringtone downloaded and on my phone. Now every time my phone rings, I want to get up and dance! She also taught me how to add a signature to all my text messages. I’m armed and dangerous now!

Well, during dinner – about 7:30 or so — my hubby called to say he was on his way home already; they had finished early! I had wanted to have all my chick stuff done in the morning so when he got home, I could be attentive and not distracted. Hearing he was already on his way home sent me spinning. Yikes!

You should have seen me shop in fast mode. If I was watching me, I would have wondered if Bewitched had come back to life for real! I came home, put the groceries away, finished making and bagging my dog’s food (Yes, I make their food! I know, they sound spoiled, which they are, but I do it for health reasons, truly!:) Then I cleaned up that mess, finished folding and putting away two loads of laundry, brought in the trash cans, cleaned up the kitchen, checked my email and then showered. When he came home at 11:30, I was sitting on the couch relaxing — exhausted is more like it!

It was so good to see him! He shared some gut-wrenching truths about the rampant poverty, the way the people live over there, and some really hard-to-hear truths about the kids and how they conform to the poverty lifestyle. I could tell that it had been a life-changing trip for him, especially as he shared about the appreciation and joy of the two families who received the loft houses that our church built. “They literally have nothing,” he said, his eyes welling up, “but they wanted to feed us!”

It’s humbling when you look at the sacrifice of that gift, a meal, something that you and I take for granted, even plan for several times a day…..

Know that you are blessed! Have an awesome day, and don’t forget to tune in at 1:00 for our Blog Talk Radio Show, Kiss Dating Good-Bye show. Today’s segment is “The Courting Principles.” You can just click on the “listen to my weekly pod cast” link to the right and it will take you right to the show!

Smiles

Thank you once agaiin for the great words. 🙂 I am so excited to hear about book 2 and an update for book 1’s progress to the publisher. I am so blessed with all God has given me. One thing God has put upon my heart is to help others in whatever way I can. I know I cannot meet everyones needs but I do know God will put me in the right place at the right time to help the ones He pick out for me. It is always a blessing because I get way more back than I ever give. I start each day with a prayer of gratitude and pray for God to keep my heart grateful for all the blessings and to see the sunshine in the stormy times.
    Love you, Sherrie
