Coffee Hour @ Chicklit Power “Only as Much as You’ve Been Loved.”

Welcome to Coffee Hour @ Chicklit Power and thanks for coming by. Looks like we have another foggy morning so grab your coffee and come on in. I heard something yesterday that caught my attention.

I was on my way to Starbucks for my afternoon half-calf Iced Americana blended with a little bit of half and half and one Splenda – it’s my way of having a frappachino without the calories – and a man was reading a letter to God from a five-year-old. The letter was definitely cute. It went something like this: Dear God, I don’t know how you could love EVERY one. I just don’t know how you do it. I have four in my family and I just can’t do it!

Then the guy chuckles and says something, which I don’t remember, but then he closed with: You can only love as much as you’ve been loved. Now, that really struck me as not right at first, but then I gave it some thought. Maybe it really resonated because of this workshop we’re having in just a couple of days, “Loving the Unlovable,” but in any event, I thought about his statement real hard. Now I’ve been blessed beyond belief when it comes to being loved by friends and self-adopted family, so I thought, to much is given, much is required. Okay, I can deal with that…

Then the light went on. We CAN love without limit because we are entwined with the author of love, and because He first loved me, and you, we can keep on loving, even when we feel like we don’t have it in us, because we are tied to the never-ending source of love. And do you realize that that never-ending source that never runs dry calls you and me His friends?

That’s so hard to fathom, but what a sweet reality.

Have an awesome day
