Coffee Hour @ Chicklit Power – When is Enough Enough?

Welcome to Coffee Hour at Chicklit Power and thanks for coming by. Grab your coffee and come on in. I had no idea I’d be sharing something on the August Wow so soon after blogging about it, but amazingly enough, it came alive yesterday.

So I met a girlfriend for some coffee and some catching up and we decided to meet at Starbucks, of course. So we walk up and this guy about five-seven, sand-colored hair, olive-colored skin and big, beautiful blue eyes greets us. He had on beads that I used to see in the ’70s, kinda hippie style and just a sweet spirit. I gave him my order, which is no simple order – ½ caf iced Americano with one pump of light base, one Splenda, a splash of cream and then blended; it’s a Frappuccino without all the calories, only 35!

Anyway, when I’m at my home Starbucks, I don’t even have to recite it anymore. In fact, one time I was outside talking to a couple of friends and one of the supervisors came out with my drink before I could even get in there and order it. Talk about excellent service.

So anyway, I had to go through the whole recipe, and the barista – baristo (for guy, right?) and I were laughing and then I put a dollar bill in the tip jar. This is pretty much how the conversation went: “Here’s a dollar for all the drama; after all, money talks, right?” He goes, “That’s right, girl. You can keep on talking all you want.” And we laughed and joked around for a minute.

Well, somehow the conversation took a turn down Serious Lane, and I had to go down the open street. “Yeah, money may not buy happiness, but it helps make life a bit more comfortable, huh?” And he said, “Yeah, but I really work on being content with what I have.”

My mouth dropped and I affirmed him, and actually recited the first part of our August Wow. He went on to say, “If you aren’t content with what you have, then how can obtaining more ever be enough?”

“Exactly,” I exclaimed. “When will enough be enough?”

Now, there’s a difference between being content, and settling for things, but that’s for another blog. All I know is that I left Starbucks with more than the drink that I had ordered; that barista had put a smile in my heart and on my face as I realized that his philosophy lined up so well with our August WOW and had proved that these words of wisdom were alive with truth.

And by the way, my blended coffee was amazing! Try it; you’ll like it.

Please come back and join me tomorrow as I’ll be returning to the “Friends and Friendships” series. Make it a great day….

Joyfully

Our Starbucks is really good, too. They will have our drinks made before we get there and one time it backfired, because we were buying for someone else!

I heard a millionaire’s answer as to how much is enough money. He said, “One dollar more. And, as far as enough land: the next acre over from his land.” The only thing that satisfies our hearts is The Lord. He says He will provide all we NEED, not all we WANT.

You bring up so many great topics.
