Coffee in Kauai

Thanks so much for stopping by today for a little break! I’m excited to be sharing this new series with you, almost in real time, as we look for adventure, rest and relaxation in paradise, a place I consider home away from home, the beautiful Island of Kauai! Grab your coffee and come on in.

Our first day on the island was actually Saturday, and after landing, getting our luggage, and our rental car, it was only a little after 12 so we had the whole day ahead of us. Our first stop was Bubba’s the famous hamburger place, and I must admit, though they are overpriced and pretty darned small, they are amazing!

Memories at Bubba’s

After lunch, we went to our resort, was told our room wasn’t quite ready so we took a walk on the beach, and did some exploring. The sound of the waves was music to my soul and a sense of homecoming filled me up, inspiring me to get the most out of this getaway and stay in the moments.

Grocery shopping was definitely a hoot, especially with Rodney, who is a little boy in a man’s body and such a great influence on my hubby. When we realized the guys weren’t following us and were totally out of sight, we slowed down and all of a sudden I looked to see Cheryl break into a full-out laugh and begin pointing to our guys. There they were, coming up the main aisle on those motorized shopping carts for handicapped people. Now, I mean no disrespect to the handicapped and Rodney actually made sure there were more available, but I have to tell you, we were laughing so hard, and we weren’t the only ones! 🙂 (I took a picture with my cell phone and posted it to Facebook in case you want to see it! 🙂 )

After shopping, we went back to the resort, went to our two-bedroom condo and squealed with delight at the accommodations! The bedrooms were nice and big, the living room spacious, the kitchen definitely easy to work in, lots of closet space, and to add more sugar to the sweetness, our view from the patio, yes; that’s right, the ocean! I was so excited. By the time we unpacked and made dinner too. I was famished, about to eat the paint off the wall, and absolutely exhausted! I had only slept one hour the night before so I was essentially running on empty!

We made tacos and refried beans for dinner, quite tasty I might add, and about halfway through dinner, exhaustion hit me like a ton of bricks. My tummy was satisfied, but my body was screaming for bed! What a full day it had been! If I had it to do over again, I wouldn’t change a thing!

One hour later, that’s exactly where I was, and I don’t even remember my head hitting the pillow. Seven hours later, 3:30 a.m. – 6:30 at home, I woke up, recharged, my mind alive and kicking. I was determined to see the sun rise and I could have sworn that was at 5:00, and seeing as we have friends staying with us, I lay still for another 40 minutes and when my honey rolled over and showed signs of life, I couldn’t resist! “Honey, let’s get up and see the sun rise.”

Join me tomorrow for some amazing sunrise pictures, and more Kauai moments,

Refreshed,

Evinda

Aloha Mini-Huni’s (that’s Hawiian speak), What beautiful photos of your fun. Savor every moment, don’t rush through the day just saturate yourselves in the experience of peace. The reality of life will be back way too soon let’s not hurry towards it!
