Dedication-Publication Update-From Coffee Hour @ Chicklit Power

Welcome to Coffee Hour @ Chicklit Power and thanks for stopping by and sharing your break with me. Hurry and grab your coffee because I have some exciting news to share with you, and I want to give you a sneak preview of something, too. 🙂

So the book, previously called “The Men in and out of Her Life, now titled “Back to Single,” has been sent to layout! We are actually moving in this publication process, and what a ride it’s been!

When I completed the blog book last year, “A Cup of Encouragement for the Day,” there was a nudging on my heart to dedicate the book to a greater cause and also a portion of the proceeds to support that cause. That is how I came to learn about World Team, an organization dedicated to fighting human trafficking, AND rehabilitating those trafficked.

As I concluded the final edits of “Back to Single,” I was prayerfully considering who to dedicate this book to and it wasn’t until three days before the final deadline – meaning I wouldn’t be able to add anything – that I got my answer. So I’d like to share with you the dedication and announce who will be receiving a portion of the proceeds:

This book you hold in your hands has a special dedication and it just may include you! Many of us are familiar with the term “recovery.” In fact, every one of us has had to recover from something, possibly an illness, maybe the loss of a loved one, a financial difficulty, or an unexpected circumstance. The word in and of itself denotes a process and by its very definition demands the same thing. But what about those who dare to recover from the deception of a drug, alcohol or even a food addiction? Is the definition still the same? I would dare to say it is. See, to recover means to return to the original and/or intended condition.

I find hope in that definition and I am comforted by the truth: that we all must acknowledge our Creator and the need for our Creator. With that acknowledgement and acceptance comes the courage to meet life on life’s terms, one day at a time, hour by hour. With the passing of time out of our addiction, we come to know a love that fills us with unfathomable peace that no other source could offer and we become less and less influenced by the hold it once had.

Perhaps you have thought about recovery as it relates to a life issue that you recognize needs to change, or perhaps you know of someone in some form of recovery. Whatever the case may be, this book is dedicated to anyone in any type of recovery. And as an expression of sincere encouragement and hope, a portion of the proceeds generated from this book will be donated to a recovery group very near and dear to my heart, Teen Challenge. T.C. is an amazing organization dedicated to shining the light in the darkest of recoveries and I will forever be indebted to the seeds they planted and the light they shone in my own son’s recovery.

Whatever you’re going through, I wish you recovery!

So that’s the dedication! Please let me know what you think and thanks again for staying with me in this journey!

P.S. Happy, happy birthday to my very special friend and sister in the Lord, Jeanette. May you feel His arms of love from all whom you have loved! Love you, girl! 🙂

Incredible dedication Kimmie! Just such beautiful and moving words of hope. This is a comforting statement that I had a need to read today. A neighbor ,who was a very young man and father of three tiny boys, died from dealing with intense and unrelenting bone pain. Yes, this sweet boy could not deal with it anymore and took too much pain med.s and then hung himself. What actually took him was the pain and he was gone before the hanging. Such a heartbreaker for all. He was saved and a believer who loved the Lord, yet this happens all too often.
Thank you for the words of hope.
