Faith-Filled Friday from Coffee Hour @ Chicklit Power

I can’t believe it’s already Friday! Grab your coffee and let’s get into our Faith Filled Friday! I think we were in a conference room with an attorney who just confessed that he envied my faith.

“But it hasn’t always been that way,” I admitted. He looked at me somewhat puzzled. “See, I used to think that He was up there playing Monopoly with my life, especially considering what I’ve gone through.”

Now he really looked perplexed.

“But there have been too many scriptures that have actually come alive in my life for me not to have my strand of faith which is getting stronger with every knot He ties in it.”

Our conversation continued for several more minutes and then he had to go and so did I. I actually did follow up with him by sending him a powerful book by Lee Strobel, which said he would try and make the time to read. At this point, only God knows where he’s at with his faith and I’m praying he’s with faith and not without!

But let’s get back to our Hall of Faith and the people involved. When I began reading Hebrews 11 and 12, there was a verse in there that acted like a switch and turned something on inside of me, sort of like a light hungering for a brighter bulb. 11:3 says that by faith we understand . . . See, without faith, it is impossible to understand the things of God.

But what is faith? “Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” the first thing that popped out at me when I read this definition is — and I’ve read it several times in the past and the same question has haunted me — what is the difference between faith and hope? Hope is almost automatic, like breathing, while faith is His gift to us upon confessing that we are a sinner in need of a savior! Does that make sense? Even an atheist has an inclination toward hoping for certain things.

I’ve heard some say that we are born with a measure of faith and there may even be scripture that says so; I’ve just not come across it. But if that is the case, then it is an unlit flame that ignites when we confess Him as our Lord and Savior whereas one without a faith-based relationship with Christ still hopes for the best in all circumstances. I just can’t imagine my life without my faith-based relationship and I so wouldn’t want to live it, either!

Join me next Friday as we begin to go through the Hall of Faith and what faith fueled in each person in that Hall of Faith!

Have an amazing weekend and don’t forget to “spring” ahead. Instead of looking at it as a loss of an hour’s sleep, think of it as an extension of playtime!

Yes, Romans 12:3 speaks of the measure(what is a measure? An amount not specified) of faith given to every man. Now we must consider the fact to who was being spoken to in this chapter and what he is trying to convey to them.
I see hope as something that is what is desired for (not seen-intangible), but faith is the proof (tangible) that you have as a Christian that what you “hope” for is already in existence and fulfilled.
