Faith & Finances From Coffee Hour @ Chicklit Power

Welcome to Coffee Hour @ Chicklit Power and welcome back to the “Faith & Finance” series. If this is your first time with us and/or your first time in this series, you may want to check the archives so you can get caught up and brought up to speed on this subject. It’s such a huge topic that I’m taking one little bite out of it at a time in hopes of us all being able to digest it a bit better. So grab your coffee and come on in.

I looked over what we’ve already talked about and as I was thinking about what we should talk about next, I was reminded of our August WOW (words of wisdom) which comes from Hebrews 13:5 and says: _____, (your name) let your character be free from the love of money, being content with what you have; for He Himself has said, I will never desert you nor will I ever forsake you!

Now, I don’t know about you, but that’s comforting. Unfortunately, for most people, that hasn’t taken residency in their hearts. Is it any wonder when we are surrounded by a falling economy, a society trying to push God out and rights being crammed down our throats that we know are not of Him? Why is all this happening?

I believe it can be found in one word: MONEY! Yes, even the “gay rights” activists have a political platform that is driven by money and pride. I realize that’s a strong statement, but if you do the research yourself, you’d be amazed at how much money the “gay rights” activists raised!

Anyway, let’s talk about the money thing. Did you know that the word “money” is in the Bible more than 140 times? And that doesn’t even include the lessons surrounding it. Could it be that He knows how important it is and how important it shouldn’t be?

See, when I look at that verse, I know that He knew that we would need money to a degree, and if you look at the words, we can see that from the beginning, He understood this because He says let your character be free from the love of… and then He goes on to show His heart by offering Himself to us, assuring us that He will never desert us, never leave us stranded and never forsake us, even when the money’s not there.

Maybe you have a pile of bills that can’t be paid right now, or you know you’re short and that’s all you can see; that’s all you can think about. How does one take their focus off of that pile of responsibility and focus on the One who will be there through it all? How does one come to believe that He will provide? And how do we stop the bitterness from taking root in our hearts because of the lack of month after month after month?

Come back tomorrow so we can talk about this some more. For now, I’ll have to let you go. Have a beautiful day.

The Lord is my Provider and He has proven this to me time and time again…BUT, in my weakness, I can feel the “sick n’ tiredness of it all” creep into my heart by just barely getting by…guess that could be some bitterness!
