He’s a housekeeper, too? From Coffee Hour @ Chicklit Power-Cleaning the Study

Welcome to Coffee Hour @ Chicklit Power, and thanks for joining me today in our new series. Now that we’ve discovered all the dirt, grime, cobwebs and other things that need to be cleaned out of the study, aka, the mind, let’s sit with our Housekeeper and find out our part in His housecleaning through this story that He’s given me to give to you. 🙂

I walked toward my office, my steps faltering with fear and dread as I had no idea what to expect in this cleaning process. One thing I was certain of; it wasn’t going to be easy. I let out a heavy sigh as I opened up the door of my office and the first thing I saw was Him, sitting there in one of the comfy chairs waiting for me. I dared to look upon His face and what I saw squeezed my heart with something so unfamiliar, and I felt my fears lessen as I sat across from Him and clenched my hands and waited to hear from Him about how to get this office, aka my mind, cleared of all the clutter.

The quietness was deafening and I could feel the sweat trickle down my back. “Why are you so anxious?” His voice interrupted my nervousness.

“I guess I’m overwhelmed in my own mind about all the changes you’re going to ask me to make.”

His smile warmed my heart and calmed my nerves. “You will not have to make any of these changes on your own. Remember, now that we’re meeting every day, these changes will become easier and easier.”

That’s easy for you to say, my mind seemed to echo.

“It is easy for me to say because I am with you and I will never leave you or forsake you.”

I turned every shade of red one could imagine at the exposure of my thoughts, but I didn’t have to sit in my embarrassment long at all. He began to talk with me about some of the movies that were in my entertainment center, and some of the movies that I had gone to the theatre to see. He reminded me that if they don’t have any spiritual significance, then they are seed planters for a room full of wrong thoughts which lead to wrong actions. “Satan has used the beauty of theatre and music as weapons, some of his most powerful weapons as a matter of fact, to lure people to him.”

I shook my head in agreement.

He continued. “I’m not saying don’t enjoy life; I’m merely asking you to invite me to the movies with you and if you feel you can’t take me with you and allow me to sit there with you, then it’s a movie you shouldn’t be watching.”

“That seems easy enough, Father.”

He chuckled. “I’m glad you think so, but there will be times that you forget to invite me and you go about your plans but I’ll be waiting when you return.”

I shook my head in amazement as His message of grace began to stir in my heart. “And what about the music, Lord?”

“Ah, that’s also a simple solution. Since I am at home in your heart, I would love to hear music with words that encourage, that lift your soul and your countenance, music with a message of hope, not of despair and depression. See what we put in the office or study of our minds comes out in our actions. Many people don’t realize the subtle power and influence in music but trust me, daughter, it is there.”

“Are you saying I have to listen to only church music?”

He shook His head in disagreement. “No, not at all, because even some groups that claim to be of Me and about me are not living for me, but there are countless groups out there that are Mine and they appeal to all the different styles of this world. You must listen for the message and then you can choose wisely, but remember, if you are ever uncertain, just ask. I’ll be right here.”

I nodded my head, deep in thought.

“Now, I know you have a full day ahead of you, so we’ll talk some more about how to clean out this office/study later. Let me just leave you with these words: “Whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy, meditate on these things.”

Join me tomorrow for some more housecleaning! 🙂

Being cleansed,

Evinda
