He’s a Housekeeper, too? From Coffee Hour @ Chicklit Power – Conclusion to the dining room. :)

Welcome to Coffee Hour at Chicklit Power and thank you so much for joining me in our heart-cleaning series with the best Housekeeper that ever cleaned! 🙂 Grab your coffee and come back into the dining room with me.

As the realization of His words went from my mind to my heart, my eyes opened in understanding. “So you’re saying that this housecleaning thing is a process, an ongoing process?”

“That’s exactly what I’m saying,” He smiled.” Now, let’s talk about the kind of food” – He stopped mid-sentence.

“What’s wrong, Father?”

“There’s nothing wrong,” He smiled. “It’s just that this conversation is reminding me of the one I had with a certain Samaritan woman long, long ago. So many of my kids chase these blessings but they never seem to satisfy the soul. See, just as your body hungers and thirsts for food and water, I have created each of you with a hunger in your soul that only spiritual food can satisfy. In fact, your soul must have food and water to stay spiritually alive. You wouldn’t think of depriving your body of food and water, why then would you deprive your soul?”

I hung my head in the shame that rose up to draw me back to the time when I had deprived my body and had in fact abused it almost as if to punish myself, but more to control my world that had been spinning out of control. Again, His voice reached out and grabbed me out of myself and the memories I had been carrying with me for too many years.

“Daughter, there’s no need to think about the season of your eating disorder for you have been forgiven for that. I can see that you have not forgiven yourself, but be assured that I have forgiven you and have cast that as far as the east is from the west, which are two points that never meet. Let go of the shame so you may learn about this spiritual food.”

As soon as I heard the words “Let go,” I felt this weight being lifted up and out of me. It was the weirdest sensation and yet, the sense of relief was a place I could lose myself in.

“I am the living Word, and therefore, any time you spend with me will be food for your soul. The written word is the gift I have left for all my children, that they would have basic instructions before leaving earth and joining me in heaven.”

He stopped again and I waited and waited and waited. “Were you going to say something else, Father?”

He smiled. “Now who’s reading whose thoughts?” His eyes glistened and sparkled like the sun shining on the ocean floor. “I love it when I see all of you digging into the scriptures, looking for all the mysteries that are beneath the surface. This takes time but this food is most satisfying, and yet time after time, I see many join me at the table, hurry through a couple of scriptures, talk at Me, give me a list of to-dos and then hurry off to their day that I’ve given them.”

“Oh, Father, I’ve been guilty of that more often than not,” I cried.

“I know you have and you are not alone.” He paused. “But I am delighted to see that this is changing within you also.” His smile was pure and spoke of His genuine joy and pleasure. “When we truly dine together daily, the food that you will receive at this table will satisfy you and nourish you in such a way that you will hunger for the things of this world less and less and as I promise in My love letters to all of you, ‘whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him,’ or her,” He added with a smile, ‘will never thirst again’.”

“Are there any other housecleaning items for this room, Father?”

“Oh, yes, fellowship is a great housecleaner for it provides a sense of accountability and increases your hunger for My food.”

I nodded my head in agreement for I had definitely learned the truth about that. I thanked Him for the gift of fellowship found in His bride, the church. We talked for a while longer and then we prayed together. As I stood to get up and continue on in my day, He reminded me that we would meet in the living room the following morning.

No longer in a hurry while at His table,

Evinda
