Coffee Hour @ Chicklit Power…

It’s so good to have this time with you and time to hit the “play” button on these symptoms of the relationship infection so we can move forward in the season of Nana Holds. I can hardly wait to share with you all that’s been happening in our lives since this workshop took place, but one step at a time! Grab your coffee and come on in.

We are now on the final question for the symptom of rigidity and it’s definitely one to ponder. “Do you get stuck in certain feelings such as guilt, love, or anger?”

Considering all that I am learning while leading our How We Love group (based on the book by Milan and Kay Yerkovitch), I have to admit that I would have answered this question back in February with a resounding no, but for all the wrong reasons! Let me explain.

For years, I have plowed through life on auto pilot, the engine of life humming so loud that I didn’t pay attention to “my feelings,” hence I would consistently react in the midst of my anxiety which would sometimes roar at an annoying pitch. While I recognized my feelings as being mad, angry, sad, depressed, guilty, or a combination of any, I didn’t know what to do with those feelings and often I didn’t know why I was feeling them. So instead of slowing down to listen to them, which would allow me to address whatever my needs were at the time, I just sped up and become even more intense.feb 23rd flyer

Well, the more intense I became, the more my husband backed away; and the more he backed away, the madder I got. Whew, what a crazy cycle! Back in February, one of the hardest parts of that event happened right in the beginning of my teaching, when I had to confess, ever so honestly and vulnerably, the difference between this event and all the others: Whatever I had spoken about in the past were areas of life that I was/am maneuvering successfully in, so talking about them was almost as easy as breathing. But as I stood before everyone at our Revival for Relationships workshop, I confessed that I was not maneuvering successfully yet in the area of relationships.

Since then, God has continued to use Bryden in this area as well, but He has also used our How We Love class to teach me that feelings do matter, and the more we learn to slow down and acknowledge them, the less likely they are to drive our car and get us into an accident!

How about you; do you get stuck in your feelings? If so, which ones? What or Who do you think can pull you out?

I’d love to hear from you!
