The Men… Chapter 3 (cont)From Coffee Hour @ Chicklit Power

Welcome to Coffee Hour @ Chicklit Power and thanks for coming by for more on Chapter 3 from my first novel, “The Men in and out of Her Life.” So I left you with a bit of a challenge about trying to become interested in what our honey’s doing, what he’s saying, which really helps to rekindle the relationship. When we’re done with Chapter 3, which is sooner than I thought, I’ll try and share an example of how I did that over the weekend. 🙂 Grab your coffee and come on in to get a glimpse of what Ian’s thinking after his conversation with Lacey. 🙂

Ian lay in bed, looking up at the ceiling and thinking about Lacey, and after the last couple of conversations, he had a lot to think about. The fact that she had a 14-year-old son didn’t scare him off at all. He didn’t know how old she was, but he didn’t care. Most of his dating had been with older women. His mom used to always tell him he was ahead of his time, and now he was glad that she was right. He wanted to get to know Lacey, and if need be, her son too. Something told him she’d be worth it, her and that little hard body of hers.

Well, that’s it for Chapter 3 so let’s get back to that challenge I left you with on Friday.

I’d love to be able to say that I was able to light a spark with my husband this weekend by sitting with him and waiting with bated breath to hear about his work day, or even attempt to get inside his head to take a look at his thoughts, or cook his favorite meal, or do whatever it takes to light that fire. But there is a reason: I knocked my back out of whack on Wednesday evening. I picked something up and I felt a little pop, and that’s all she wrote. I’m as crooked as a broken finger and having a hard time standing and as far as standing straight, that’s not happening! I’ve been a bit of a grump the last few days and not very selfless.

I’ve gone to the chiropractor three days in a row, but that’s not working. The only thing that brings even a glimpse of relief is to lie down in fetal position. 🙁 Have you ever tried to talk in this position? It’s like the last thing you’re thinking about, right? 🙂

However, I did receive a small opportunity to show my hubby that I am interested in what interests him and I took it.  He asked me to go to Ace Hardware so he could get some sprinkler repair stuff, and so I said, sure. Under my breath, I’m thinking, Do I look like I can walk around Ace Hardware? Yeah, sure, maybe on all fours, and I’ll try my darndest not to grimace with every move.

I bit my tongue and swallowed my thoughts and I went and even put a smile on my face. I didn’t last long, though, before I went and sat down on their patio furniture display while he shopped around for what he needed. George didn’t seem to mind. I think he just wanted me with him, which really should make me smile. 🙂

The smile that was on my face traveled to my heart when he came up to me and showed me that he had gotten everything we needed not for the sprinklers but for Chicklit Power Ministries’ booth that we’re setting up at the Iris Festival this coming weekend. What a guy!

I showed a little interest and he reciprocated with even more. It really does encourage me to take more time to pay attention to the most important man in my life. You never know when the smallest spark will ignite something really spectacular.

I better let you go. Don’t forget it’s Blog Talk Radio day today at 1:00 Pacific time. Join me tomorrow for a new and thought-provoking series entitled: “If I Could Have Coffee with God. . .” and then I think if you’d like, I’ll begin posting Chapter 4.
