Think Like A Sheep From Coffee Hour @ Chicklit Power

Coffee Hour!

Thanks so much for coming back for more of this powerful psalm that is proving to be full of insight. We are almost done with verse 4 and then we will only have two more verses and our grazing will be finished. I’m kind of sad but I can’t wait to see what He gives me next for us to share our coffee hours with. Grab your coffee and come on in.

So before we move on from the rod and the staff, I just wanted to share a couple of more points. The enemies of the Shepherd may fear the rod and the staff, but the sheep receive comfort from them because they know they are used for their protection. Isn’t that so cool? It’s all about perspective!

Sometimes in our darkest hours, we can experience God’s comfort but here’s something to think about: How much comfort would we receive if our Shepherd answered all our whys? Don’t get me wrong; there are many things I question Him about, and 99 percent of the time, He doesn’t give me the answer right away, but what He does do is weave the answer into my life in a way that I not only marvel, but I understand to the depth of my soul. That is why I can say that if God, our Shepherd, were to merely give us answers or philosophical explanations every time we asked a question, how much comfort would that really give us? I can honestly say that when I faithe (verb form of faith and rhymes with bathe– this is an Evinda-ism) through a question, that I receive more long-lasting comfort. 🙂 🙂

Yes, from the rod and the staff of our Shepherd, we do receive comfort, and not only for ourselves but for others, as it says in the scriptures, you will comfort others with the comfort you’ve been given. Speaking of the scriptures, did you know that the Bible refers to sheep, lamb and shepherds about 600 times. It’s as if God is trying to say to us: If you want to learn something about Christians, watch sheep, and if you want to know something about Me, watch a faithful shepherd.
