We Become Like Who We Hang Out With-WOW Rewind-Coffee Hour@Chicklit Power

Welcome to Coffee Hour @ Chicklit Power and welcome back to our WOW Rewind series. We’re still rewinding the words of wisdom from last February and comparing how they got us through then and how they can get us through now. Grab your coffee and come on in.

I love waking up to the sound of rain. The sound of the water coming down from heaven is like a foot that gently kicks me into writing mode. Oh, to be able to just sit and write without pressures and deadlines. Some day! 🙂 Okay, so where were we? Oh, yes, seeking ungodly counsel; that’s right. Well, let’s move on to the next part of these words of wisdom, aka our WOW.

The next part of the verse talks about standing in the path of sinners. Now, that sounds a bit ancient, so let me bring it current: Don’t deliberately walk into a pool of temptation and take a swim and think you’ll come out dry; you won’t!

Let me give you a couple of examples I’ve learned from, and a few include my own mistakes: 🙂 If you are really struggling with drinking and it has more control over you than you do it, do you really think it’s wise to walk into a bar? Go to a party where you know there’s going to be drinking? If you are a brand-new ex-smoker, do you really want to hang out with a bunch of smokers in the beginning?

This applies with recovering addicts as well. Every recovery-type program teaches that you have to choose new friends and new places; otherwise transformation is not possible. And I know that seems logical and simple, but ask a recovering addict how simple it is and they will tell you it’s one of the toughest parts of breaking free because we do become like who we hang out with.

Tomorrow I’ll share a couple of not-so-obvious, honest-to-goodness temptations that have tempted all of us. Enjoy your day and may who you hang around affect you toward Him.

Joyfully,

Evinda

P.S. Happy Happy Birthday to my sweet Dawn who is not just one of my book team, but forever in my heart, and to another dear long-time –- not old 🙂 — friend, Darletha. I pray the memories you create today will squeeze your heart with love and joy for years to come.
