What is Freedom? From Coffee Hour @ Chicklit Power

Coffee Hour!

Happy 4th of July, and thanks for stopping by for a little coffee break! I won’t keep you long today; I know you have lots of memories to begin creating, so grab your coffee and come on in.

Whenever we think of celebrating the 4th, we can’t help but think of the word “Freedom,” at least I hope we do!

Since freedom has become like a glass of water, something we’ve taken for granted just about as much, I thought it would be mind-bending to research a few definitions. The Hebrew definition for “freedom” is: Liberty from slavery, exempt from bondage. We could spend hours on the word bondage, but for the sake of time, we’ll move on.

The word “free” has several definitions and in fact, is in the Word of God hundreds of times. To summarize the majority of the definitions, it translates to: Without punishment, free, guiltless! Oooh, but I like that last one because we know how we become guiltless – the acceptance of the One who died to set us free! 🙂

And as I continued to dig in the Hebrew concordance, I couldn’t believe what I found for the word root of freedom. It truly stopped me in my tracks! It translates: Without cost, for nothing, for no purpose; without a cause, for no reason, in vain!

Oh, that the greatest price for our spiritual freedom would not be in vain, and may the price of our physical freedom that our soldiers are still fighting for not go in vain!

Have an awe-inspiring, freeing day.
