What’s a Self-Fulfilling Prophecy? From Coffee Hour @ Chicklit Power

Welcome to Coffee Hour @ Chicklit Power and thanks so much for joining me for a break today! I’m overwhelmed with the powerful reality of something that is playing out in my life as I blog this for you. Grab your coffee and come on in and let’s talk about the truth and meaning of a self-fulfilling prophecy. 🙂

I’m so tempted to just jump right in the middle of my own self-fulfilling prophetic ways, but I’ll hold back and start a little differently so it makes more sense and just maybe, the words will resonate off the page and jump right into your heart and thereafter make sense in your own day-to-day life.

So I used to think I knew what the word “prophecy” meant. I thought it was confined to the telling of future events, and therefore, isn’t really relevant in our lives today. Whew, was I ever off on that one!

A prophecy is a prediction, and to prophesy is to speak the truth, and it is not restricted to future events, sort of! I know, that “sort of” sort of muddies the waters a bit so let me give you an example to try to clear it up. A long, long time ago, I used to be an independent contractor for Princess House Crystal and I’ll never forget my first big company rally when they announced a travel trip to Hawaii, all expenses paid! I had never traveled outside my city, let alone the state I lived in! 🙂

I went home that night saying out loud, “I’m going to Hawaii. I’m going to Hawaii. I don’t know how I’m going to do it, but I’m going to Hawaii.” The next morning, my brain remembered the truth I had spoken to it the night before and there I stood telling the person looking back at me that I was going to Hawaii.

Well to make that long prophecy short, I did win the trip and two and a half months early! So that was a truth about a future event, but how did I know it was true?

Join me tomorrow for a couple more explanations of a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Speaking the truth,

You go girl! It’s a principle that is biblically established for us to use because “IT WORKS”!
