I dare you to breathe! Journal Entry From Coffee Hour @ Chicklit Power

Welcome to Coffee Hour @ Chicklit Power and thanks for coming by. I was going to be continuing with our series within a series, but my writing laptop got infected with 29 viruses that seeped into my hard drive so my laptop is having surgery at the moment! 🙁 Grab your coffee and come on in. It’s time for a journal entry, which simply means the inside scoop to what’s happening now in my life and how sometimes you gotta just dare to breathe!

So before I left for work (court reporting) Friday afternoon, I was on my writing laptop and get a message telling me there are viruses on my computer. !@#$%^&*()_+

I attempted to go a step further into assessing the situation, but then decided to turn it off, literally, and not go there. I get to my job and discover that opposing counsel is an old client of mine when I had my court reporting agency and though he’s gotten older, he’s not any slower! 🙂

Within two hours, my wrist began aching and was threatening to stop working! Besides hanging on for dear life at his breakneck speed in which he was talking, telling myself not to look at my computer for fear I would see everything coming up looking like globs of untranslated spaghetti, I prayed for strength to finish and finish I did, even with a smile on my face. Who cares that the smile was one spurred by frustration at the fact that all counsel seemed to have forgotten that I was in the room and on that machine. Maybe if my machine had started smoking. . . Breathe, dare to breathe!

Well, my fingers were smoking; that’s for sure! 🙂 🙂  Usually I’m praying for pages, but I didn’t have to with this job. In three hours, actually a bit less, I had almost 180 pages! Yikes!

So, I get in my car and check my messages, one of which was from my son; they would all like to come up and spend the night. I put my car in reverse, making sure I looked in the backup camera – a few weeks ago I forgot to and backed into somebody 🙁 — and headed for home, my thoughts wrapped around how to get everything done in between their visit; after all, it’s been too long since they’ve been here.

I’m getting better at coping with abrupt and unplanned circumstances, good or bad, and when I got home, I tried to take care of my computer program and wound up making it worse. Incidentally, if anyone gets a message that they have viruses and then receives an offer to fix them so it will NEVER happen again, don’t fall for it. Close the computer down and call someone. Once again, I had to emotionally and physically shut it off, and go about the next task after talking to my computer guy who promised to come Saturday some time. Thank God for Super Dave! 🙂

Our time with our son and daughter-in-love and grand kids was special and sweet. I am never disappointed in Dillan’s or Ty-Ty’s little faces as their smiles spread into pure excitement and they begin running towards us shouting “Nanna,” “Grandpa,”
their joy thrusting them towards us at a pretty fast speed.

Friday night passed way too fast until it came time to getting the kids to bed and off to sleep! 🙂

Saturday morning came with a migraine headache for me ;( so I took my migraine medicine, got on my knees in my closet and prayed and stayed for fifteen minutes and then joined the sweet chaos downstairs. I fell in love with my husband all over again on this day as I watched him play with the kids and especially when I saw him get a chair for Ty-Ty so she could stand right by him and he could teach her how to beat the eggs.

Dillan was having just too much fun with Sparky’s tail so he wound up in timeout a couple of times, but he quit yanking on Sparky’s tail! 🙂

Time out!

And when he followed me upstairs and asked if I would get him a Band-Aid for his boo-boo and let me kiss it, my heart melted in the moment. Wasn’t it just a few years ago I was doing that for my own son?

After breakfast, we went for a little fun at the park. I love watching my son father his kids. I got some really cute pics but with my cell phone and I don’t have any shame in admitting I’m Droid illiterate so I can’t download them! The park is such a fun place to let that inner child out! 🙂

As they were driving off, my computer doctor was driving up. We had one hour to get ready for our little outing we had planned with friends several weeks ago. I was determined to get away and just breathe!

Speaking of breathe, my assistant said something to me in the midst of a stressful moment a few days ago: “You need to sit down and breathe in a paper bag!” 🙂 🙂 🙂 I laughed so hard. I’m so grateful for all the people He’s put in my life to love and help me despite me.

We did get away with our friends to a place we had gone to nine months ago called Vivo Lounge, which sits on the roof of the Double Tree Hotel overlooking Doheny Beach! Talk about good times. It was so good to see Sarah, our waitress who served us last time who is now in love and loving life even more. Sarah has such a comedic gift about her that it didn’t take long to drown out the chaos at home with the laughter in the moments.

Good times 🙂

laughing with Sarah! 🙂

I’m actually blogging this on my desktop because my laptop still has one more procedure to go. The cool thing about this is if any of these unplanned circumstances had happened a couple of years ago, I would have been stuck in tears and sucking on bitter for hours. But, hey, who has time to cry? And besides, when you get a bunch of lemons, you gotta just make lemonade and dare to breathe through it! That’s when the sweetness of life comes to the surface! 🙂

Enjoy your day

P.S. Today’s Blog Talk Radio at 1:00 Pacific Time… We’ll get back to the series within a series Wednesday! Be sure to come by tomorrow because I’m actually gonna blog on the Bachelorette! 🙂
