Words to Live by-December’s WOW from Coffee Hour @ Chicklit Power

Words to Live By

Mark 5:36

As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, He said to the ruler of the synagogue, “Do not be afraid; only believe.”

It’s great to be with you again. I so love reading in His Book, learning about Him, His ways, His character, His sense of humor, and bringing that to whatever circumstance we are in. No matter what the circumstance, and/or the verse, or verses, we can put ourselves in there and we are covered! Grab your coffee and let’s get back Sarah, me, Jairus, and the woman in the crowd who has just touched the hem of Jesus’ garment.

Immediately she was better, her bleeding stopped and “she felt in her body that she was healed of the affliction.” Here’s the crazy thing: Jesus did too. He felt power leave His body and immediately turned around asking who had touched Him. Of course, His disciples pointed to the crowd and said, Are you kidding? How can you not be touched? Look at this crowd! (Paraphrased.) I can’t help but wonder if they were laughing, too.

Now get back to Jairus for a second who is patiently waiting, probably standing there with his fists clenched, biting his cheek, something to hurry the situation along because he wants Jesus to get to his house before his daughter dies.

The woman who experienced the instant healing was fearful and trembling but didn’t allow her fear to pull her away. Instead she came and fell down before Him and told him the whole story. And Jesus, in His infinite gentle way bathed his response in grace: “Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace and be healed of your affliction.”

Can you imagine being sick for twelve years, no matter what the affliction, and receiving instantaneous healing? Wow, what a feeling! This little portion of scripture begs explanation as so many questions come to mind, like how come it was instantaneous for her and not others? That has to wait for another blog, no doubt another series, but just keep this miracle in mind.

Now go back to Jairus for a second. He’s probably encouraged in his own faith and belief that Jesus can heal his daughter but can you just imagine how anxious he is to get to her? I can just see him doing the hurry-up dance, biting his tongue and choking on his anxious frustration.

That’s about how anxious I was to share with Sarah that God could and would take this pain and paint something beautiful in the tapestry of her life and when she very calmly said, after moments of silence, it’s my second one, I about fell off the elliptical again. Seriously!

Join me for more tomorrow as I bring Sarah and our WOW face to face, and hopefully you, too.
