The Bachelor – Jason and Molly’s Wedding…

Wow, who would have thought that fairy tales come in the rain? Just the other night, we saw that they do and that they can even end with a rainbow. I had never heard that rain on your wedding day means good luck, and yet, if the way they embraced it is any indication of how well they’ll do in their marriage, I’d have to say they’re going to do well. And the rainbow, what an awesome touch! It was like a reminder of His presence over the earth, His hand reaching out from one end to the other. It was a beautiful reminder that God loves weddings, especially if He’s invited.

The sad truth is, I don’t think I ever heard His name mentioned once, so I’m not sure He was invited. I sure hope they invite Him into the actual marriage; otherwise, it’s going to be much more difficult than the rainstorm they endured.

Rain and rainbows aside, I say kudos to Jason and Molly for overcoming all the adversity that the media handed them, free of charge. Their expressions of genuine sadness while explaining the challenges they faced after the final taping wherein Jason had dumped Melissa and then asked Molly for another chance tugged at my emotions and I could truly empathize with them. They didn’t come out and point fingers at the media and get ugly with anger by blaming the media for many of the things that they had to overcome, but I will say that I came away from that wedding, or taping of it, convinced that the media can be so cruel, so amoral and so agenda-driven. That’s point number one.

Point number two is something that many of the couples that we got to reconnect with had in common: They all had to start over and get to know each other outside of the romance-induced bubble and away from the cameras. Charlie and Sarah really made that point, and good job, Sarah, for saying you won’t move in until you’re married! As a side note, did you know that the two of them are going to be doing a reality show? Then Ed and Jillian admitted to having to start over in the real world, and now they seem to be going strong and headed for the altar. (I wonder if they’ll invite our Heavenly Father.)

There were several heart-to-heart conversations we saw. I especially liked the one where Molly was talking to her future brother and sister-in-law and he made such a profoundly true statement: A relationship can never have too much work. It’s like a flame; you have to keep it burning! So is it any wonder that officially only two couples have made it to the “real” commitment out of how many?

Oh, and by the way, did you know when you attend a wedding, you are committing to praying for that couple to endure all that comes their way? I’m thinking that Jason and Molly are now part of my prayers!

Stay tuned for more on the philosophy of “The Bachelor/Bachelorette” as well as dating. I have been working on the Blog Talk Radio show and recently got news that my co-host will be psychologist/friend, Steve Atkinson. Also, next week there’s more “never-released” footage on what happens after the final rose…..

Blessings
