2010 WOW Rewind-From Coffee Hour @ Chicklit Power

Welcome to Coffee Hour @ Chicklit Power and welcome to our 2010 WOW Rewind. Grab your coffee and come on in. This is going to be a great time.

One of my resolutions last year was to learn more scripture so one of the things that I would do is memorize at least one verse a month. By June of last year, I was ready to bust open with excitement because there was some really powerful scripture coming to life in my life and ever so relevant to what was happening with me and Chicklit Power Ministries. So I thought it would be fun to blog about it and include you. It proved to be a powerful series, and I’ve been realizing the importance of refreshing by rewinding and reminding, breathing even more life into these words of wisdom, either by going back to the circumstances surrounding the words of wisdom, or talking about current circumstances.

Allow me to lay a bit of foundation for this first WOW. Now, I don’t know if you agree, but women can really get caught up in gossip. I’ve learned the hard way that the tongue is sharper than a knife and can do some serious damage. How do I know? Well, because I’ve been on both sides of the gossip, the gossiper and the one being gossiped about. Whatever role we play in this vicious weapon, it is evil.

Well, prior to June of last year, I happened to be enduring some pretty heart-wrenching things caused by intentional acts of others, people whom I held very near and dear to my heart. I was shaken but I wasn’t moved in my faith because I had learned from past experience that Godly people really are capable of doing ungodly things, even emotionally cruel things. By the way, that’s actually the name of an awesome book by Beth Moore entitled, “When Godly People do Ungodly Things.” I received that book from one of my book team members just a couple of weeks prior to all this stuff happening, and she told me I needed to read this book; that I needed to be prepared. Talk about God speaking through others! I didn’t start reading it until after this, though 🙂

Anyway, He also spoke to me through His written word. The verse that practically jumped up to greet me in the midst of this storm was Romans 12:21. Before I rewind it, let me share with you a fun thing to do with scripture. Put your name in the beginning, or wherever applicable, and watch that scripture come to life. Anyway, this verse really spoke profoundly to me. It says: _________, (your name), “do not be overcome by evil but overcome evil with good“!

This is easier said than done, but if you trust God for your future, then you know that He has your back and will defend you. Besides, two wrongs don’t ever equal a right. If we try and repay evil with evil, it’s just like adding wood to a fire; it only makes it worse. Furthermore, God doesn’t need my help or yours to do His job 🙂

I have never, ever found one promise in the Bible that He hasn’t kept. I am learning that the more I get to know Him, the more I can take Him at His word. So what evil has been done to you by others? When someone does something to hurt you, try rewinding this WOW and see if it doesn’t work like a seat belt!

Taking Him at His Word . . .

My Child, well said and a good reminder to one and all to be aware to watch the words we speak because there are repercussions for good or evil with “tongue-tag”. We need to keep control over that member. Like in the Hippocratic Oath, “Do no harm” because it will ultimately come back to be our own undoing. Forgive us Father and let us publicly confess our faults and take our stripes.
