I’m so excited you joined me today for what I hope will be the conclusion to our January WOW! Hurry, before January’s gone, and grab your coffee. We left off with a key in our minds to unlock a very important door that will allow us to love our neighbor as ourselves.

Now, I believe with all my heart, soul and mind that scripture is God-breathed [2nd Timothy 3:16], and it is alive and active [Hebrews 4:12]; meaning, that one time I’ll read a portion of scripture and receive something relevant for and to my life, and the next time I read it, I get something in addition to what I received the first time! Has that ever happened to you?

Well, it’s happening now as I write from my heart to yours! I’ve read this scripture so many times and I’ve never realized what I just realized. Oh my goodness; I’m so excited, I can barely type this fast enough!

The first part of our WOW makes the second part possible! Let’s look at it again and as we do, put your name in there: _______ shall love the Lord her God with all her heart – STOP!

How in the world do you love with ALL your heart? Whew, Lord, help me here! The easiest way to put this is to have no division in your heart; in other words, seek Him in all things, for all things!

I just heard you groan … it is possible; I promise. 🙂 Seek Him in the little things and He will grant you big blessings; seek Him in the big things and He will blow your mind with provision and protection.

Let me dig a bit deeper for you with the hope that what we find will make what seems impossible suddenly possible for you to love Abba with all of your heart. Did you know the word “heart” and its word forms are in the Bible almost a thousand times? That’s a lot of heart! J Don’t worry; we’re not going to go through all those definitions and translations. We’ll go right to the “heart” of Luke 10:27!

Oh, my, this is interesting! The Greek word is “kardia,” and this word comes from a primary root “kar,” which means the thoughts or feelings; the seat of the mind! So this is the actual physical heart, then and it says that: “The heart, the chief organ of physical life and occupies the most important place in the human system”! Whew, that’s profound. No wonder He wants us to ask Him into our heart! He didn’t say He wanted to knock on the door of your leg, your arm… no, in Revelations 3:20, and Acts 17:11, He is talking about knocking on the door of our heart and residing in our heart! Wow, that’s a big diamond. He was very specific about where He wants to reside!

But, wait; there’s more: “By an easy transition, the word came to stand for man’s entire mental and moral activity, both the rational and the emotional elements.” It is also “used figuratively for the hidden springs of the personal life, the seat of total depravity, the principle in the center of man’s inward life that defiles all that he does.” A-ha, so this is why the Word says in Jeremiah 17:9 that the heart is deceitful.

Hang in there and on to your shovels… we’re almost done with the heart!

“It is also the sphere of Divine influence.” See, that’s why He wants to reside there because He declared it the place of influence at creation!

It also describes the heart as “the hidden man,” and 1st Peter 3:4, Peter says the heart reveals the real man! In other words, because He resides in there, He can see very clearly what’s in there …

Oh, Friend, this is why it is so important to meet with Him daily. Let me see if I can give you a quick analogy before our time comes to an end today.

Some people can go to bed with a sink full of dirty dishes; I’m not one of those people. I like to go to bed with my dishes clean, and wake up to an empty, clean sink. Our heart, since it is the most important place in the entire body, should be kept clean daily, without the dirty thoughts, actions left to pile up and defile and infect His dwelling place.

I know He is faithful to keep that list of “to do’s” for cleaning and reminding ongoing as long as I ask Him to; otherwise, He remains quiet, among all the dust and dirt of life that I heap in all around Him, daily, with my thoughts and/or actions. Oh, Abba, I can’t love you with all my heart if I don’t allow you to keep it clean!

And here’s one final thought about the heart: “While it represents the true character, it also conceals it”!

Oh, Father, thank you for loving me enough to not let me stay the same, to reveal, peel and heal all the things in my heart!

Umm, so we didn’t finish and I can’t say I’m sorry because that was an amazing search which definitely did not leave us empty-handed or “hearted”! We’ll pick up next week with how to love the Lord our God with all our soul … did you know there is a difference?

In His deep-cleansing love,
