Coffee Hour @ Chicklit Power “A Psalm a Day…”

Welcome to Coffee Hour at Chicklit Power and welcome back to our “A Psalm a Day…” series. I can think of so many ways to finish that little sentence, like A Psalm a day will keep the blues away. I’m looking forward to going over our Psalm today, and I hope that if you’re feeling heavy hearted, that the words come alive and chase your cares away. If you’re going through a struggle or trial, I hope that whatever we discover will strengthen you and inspire you to keep the faith. Grab your coffee and come on in.

You know, there’s something about the loudness of the ocean that brings me to a state of peacefulness, a place where I wish I could just sit and write for hours on end. My hubby and I took off for a couple of days and we landed in San Simeon, a quaint little town framed by the sea. I need to tape-record the sound of the waves as they crash along the shoreline that borders our balcony. And what a view. A little strip of green grass, hedged off by a bluff, and then gray sand glistening with the waves’ deposits of salt. Rhythmically the tide comes in and then dances back, its retreat almost as loud as its crashing on the shore. Talk about music! It’s my favorite way/place to write.

Sorry, I was getting carried away there for a second. Where were we? Oh, yeah, Psalm 25. For the sake of your time, I’ll just go through the first seven verses, but feel free to finish with the Psalm after our time together. And by all means, dig a little. There is something incredibly unique about this particular Psalm.

So Psalm 25 says: (1) To you, O Lord, I lift up my soul. (2) O my God, I trust in you. Let me not be ashamed. Let not my enemies triumph over me. (3) Indeed, let no one who waits on you be ashamed; let those be ashamed who deal treacherously without cause. (4) Show me Your ways, O Lord; teach me your paths. (5) Lead me in your truth and teach me; for you are the God of my salvation. On you I wait all the day. (6) Remember, O Lord, your tender mercies and your loving kindness for they are from of old. (7) Do not remember the sins of my youth nor my transgressions; according to your mercy remember me, for your goodness sake, oh, Lord.

Now I’ll rewrite it according to my heart and personal circumstances just to give you an idea.

(1) Oh, Abba Father, I lift up my heart and ask that You entwine it with yours (2) and take away anything that would bring you shame and cause me to be ashamed. Please keep at bay those who are against me. (3) Thank You for proving to me over and over and over again that when I wait on You, I will not be ashamed nor will I be disappointed. Oh, my hope truly is in you. Help me to forgive those who have dealt with me faithlessly and falsely. (4) Let me handle it the way that You would, in Your way, following Your path. (5)Thank You for leading me in your truth found in your Word and for teaching me through Your Word that You are my salvation. As I sit and wonder where the answers are, I only need to know that YOU are the answer. (6)Thank You, my awesome redeemer, for your tender loving kindness and your unconditional forgiveness which is there for the asking, new every minute. (7)Oh that I would remember that You do not remember my sins, all the ways I’ve missed the mark from long ago, but when You think upon me, you deal with me in mercy, despite me…

Have an amazing day, and thank you again for coming by.

Joyfully
