Power Friday-From Coffee Hour @ Chicklit Power

Coffee Hour @ Chicklit Power

Welcome to Chicklit Power and our Power Friday thought. Grab your coffee and come on in.

As I mentioned last Friday, He is pursuing, pruning and purifying me in this area of co-dependency as it relates to my tendencies of communication in relationships. I’m going to share something with you with the hope that the “Power thought” will resonate in your heart and thereafter in your life for others to experience.

Just a couple of weeks ago, I was about to open my mouth and speak something negative into my husband’s heart because of something he was doing with our grandson. I’m so very thankful that I didn’t. I know why I didn’t; because He brought to the surface of my mind and therefore the forefront of my heart a valuable tool of separating my stuff from the person I am communicating with. What does that look like? Well, it’s sort of a mental checklist, if you will with two sides: mine/theirs.

What we/I need to come to terms with is that usually if someone does something that upsets us it’s not their mission in life to set out to do just that. Yes, I know there are exceptions, but for the most part, that statement is true. So when I received the little tug in my heart to explore why I got upset, it was like someone handed me a magnifying glass. When I looked into it, there were my fears, my issues staring right at me. I was able to separate my stuff from what could have been my reaction and therefore respond more appropriately! I’ll share another incident that happened shortly after that next Power Friday, but suffice it to say, it really brings home this power thought and tool which has brought me so much freedom:

What’s mine is mine; what’s theirs is theirs

With a new perspective,

Evinda
